Musings on the Art of Medicine is a student-run literary and artistic journal about healthcare. It includes poetry, stories, essays, art, and photography and it is published annually by the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Submissions are collected from physicians, caregivers, patients, family members, and friends both within the OUHSC community and beyond.

B&T originated in 2001 out of Dr. Jerry Vannatta’s Literature and Medicine elective for medical students finishing their first year of medical school. Literature and art take us on journeys through the hearts, souls, and minds of a wide variety of people. They present us with an invitation to experience things that we might otherwise not encounter, broadening our horizons and capabilities. Doorways suddenly open into hospital rooms, doctors’ offices, family gatherings, and the sacredness of other people’s minds. |
