The Risk Prediction Initiative (RPI) is a research and educational program within the Atlantic Global Change Institute of the Bermuda Biological Station for Research. The current goal is to bring insurance and re-insurance business communities and international climate science researchers closer together. The focii of the initial RPI efforts are on the effective transfer of climate forecast information from the academic communities to business, a greater appreciation in the business community of the utility of climate science, and investigations of the implications of climate forecast for the functioning of the insurance industry at all levels from the individual client to the catastrophe reinsurer.
